Occupational Safety And Health: Electromagnetic Fields

Electric and magnetic fields are generated by any wiring or devices which carry electric current. The fields become weaker as you move away from the source.

Experts consider that it is unlikely that low levels of electromagnetic radiation are associated with any significant health effects but suggest a policy of prudent avoidance.

Applied Research Services can assist by measuring the levels of electric and magenteic fields in your workplace to see if they meet national guidleines.

New Zealand’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued an excellent guide on this subject. The 2013 version of the guide is available here. You may also wish to check the MoH website for more recent information.
