Bund Hydrotests
Secondary containment systems (bunds) are generally tested by flooding (or partly filling) them with water and then measuring the water level over a period of days. The loss rate is calculated after correction for evaporation and rainfall. We have specialised intrinsically safe equipment to monitor the water level in the bund. In addition we have equipment to monitor rainfall and evaporation rates; and experience in carrying out the necessary calculations. Our staff have Site Safe passports and are familiar with working in hazardous sites.
There is more detailed information on the test procedure in our Technical Bulletin 52
